Pricing & Payment

The listed price (125,000 JPY) is a partial prepayment.

The final price will fall between 225,000 and 250,000 JPY. This price range is provided because, as a made-to-order item with a long production timeline, costs may fluctuate during the process—particularly for materials such as charcoal used in forging, handle selections, and polishing or labor charges. The remaining balance will be invoiced once the knife is completed and ready for shipment.

If you would like an estimate in advance, please feel free to contact us. However, please understand that the final amount can only be confirmed after completion.

We appreciate your understanding.

Made-to-Order: Production Timeline & Policy

This product is made to order. Delivery typically takes approximately 3 to 5 months from the time of order.

To avoid any issues, please be sure to contact us and consult with us before placing your order.
Even if the order is placed by mistake, please understand that we cannot offer a full refund due to payment processing fees.

Shipping Method & Restrictions

  • This is a high-value item, so we only offer shipping via Japan Post EMS.
  • Although Japan Post Small Packet may appear as an option at checkout, please do not select it.
If you do choose Small Packet by mistake, we will kindly ask you to pay the additional cost for EMS afterward.
    Thank you for your understanding.

Customs Considerations

Since 240mm is quite long, we recommend checking with your country's customs office in advance to ensure there will be no issues with clearance.

Handmade Nature & Finish Details

Yamamoto-san uses homemade tamahagane steel and forges each knife entirely by hand.
As a result, there may be some variation in the finish, and the knife may not have the flawless appearance of a museum-grade piece.
Minor scratches or dents may be present.

Some customers prefer absolute perfection, while others value the uniqueness and character of a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece.

To help you decide, we’d like to share some photos of past knives made by Yamamoto-san via Google Drive.
Due to the large file size, we are unable to send the images by email and will instead provide a shared link.

Care

  • Frozen or hard foods may chip the blade — please avoid cutting such items.
  • Do not wash in a dishwasher. Always hand-wash and dry the knife immediately after use.
  • Use a whetstone regularly to maintain the sharpness of the blade.
  • Although this is a high-end knife, it is made of carbon steel and can rust if not properly cared for.
    To prevent rust:
    • Do not leave the blade wet after use.
    • Avoid storing the knife in humid environments.

Shipping

  • To check delivery availability, please refer to the checkout page or visit our FAQ page.
  • Duties and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
  • We recommend contacting your local customs office in advance to avoid any unexpected issues.
  • As this is a made-to-order item, delivery will take time after completion.
While you're welcome to contact us during the production period, detailed progress updates may not be available.
This is because our blacksmiths are fully dedicated to their craft and cannot frequently report on status.
We will respond as best we can, but kindly ask for your understanding.
